Interconnected cities, unmanned vehicles, virtual and enhanced reality, and many of these topics will be discussed at the 2017 World Mobile Communications Conference (MWC 2017). At the Intel booth, we will showcase a number of prototyping devices that lead the smart edge of smart networking 5G to lead us to experience how 5G will transform networks and businesses and improve our lives.

The edge of the network is intelligent

In order to achieve the potential of 5G, communication service providers must quickly and easily deploy new services to the edge of the network, reducing the return to the mobile core network and data center traffic, thereby further reducing network latency. The performance of the radio interface will be greatly improved, while the access network and edge network will become more intelligent, and change the way to deliver services to mobile users.

To support this transformation, Intel and communications equipment manufacturers to improve the edge of the network computing power, bandwidth and storage capacity. Our collaboration includes 5G base stations with integrated server capabilities, virtualized client terminal equipment (vCPEs), software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN), and network appliances. We are also committed to improving data and network security, protecting the edge of the device away from the growing risk of cyber attacks.

Network transformation requires edge intelligence

New Intel products build a network infrastructure

The right technology is critical to delivering higher intelligence, performance, and security to the edge of the network, which is why Intel has also developed the following new product portfolio:

The end of the first quarter of 2017:
The Intel Ethernet Network Adapter XXV710 supports 25GbE, providing a natural migration path for customers who need to get higher bandwidth at less than 40GbE of cost to upgrade from 10GbE.

Launched in mid-2017:

The Intel Atom processor C3000 product family enables network edge equipment vendors to meet a variety of cost performance and performance power requirements and integrates Intel's QuickAssist technology to achieve up to 20 Gbps of encryption and compression acceleration.
The new network family for the Intel Xeon processor D-1500 product family enables communications service providers to deliver higher performance than the Intel Atom processor C3000 product family, while protecting and compressing at network edge speeds of up to 40 Gbps data.
The next-generation Intel QuickAssist adapter family handles more data from Internet of Things and network edge devices, providing up to 100 Gbps of encryption, compression, and public key acceleration.

Accelerate network transformation

Over the years, the data center has been making full use of the latest computing, virtualization, IP networking and security technologies to deliver high-performance, flexible and secure services. Now, Intel is expanding its product portfolio to deliver higher performance for the edge of the network with lower power consumption and miniaturization. The same software code runs on the Intel Atom and Intel Xeon processor families, allowing OEMs to expand or upgrade to a new processor version in the future without having to rewrite the software code.

Customers have seen the advantage of using a common architecture across the entire network. "Using a common framework allows service providers to flexibly build today's 4G networks and bring applications and services to the edge of mobile networks," said Zhang Jianguo, senior vice president and president of wireless products business at ZTE. "With these standards Development, and then use the same baseband controller unit to achieve 5G network.Zhongxing IT baseband unit product is such a 5G ready, high density, high throughput products.Zhongxing expect and Intel in 5G aspects of more comprehensive cooperation. "

It is also important to help communication service providers put 5G innovations into the market. This is why Intel wants to set up two new laboratories to expand cooperation with Nokia and other ecosystem companies. Our goal is to help communication service providers understand the deployment options and achieve the 5G business needs of the business model. This lab will be based on the 3GPP standard. In addition, Telefónica and 5TONIC announced that they are installing the Intel FlexRAN software reference platform in the 5TONIC Open 5G lab. This will allow Telefónica and other 5TONIC users to test and validate the functionality and performance of virtualization capabilities for current and future radio access networks (RANs). For the evolution of 5G, the support for virtualized radio access networks is indispensable for the different needs of interfaces and interfaces.

5G marks a historic turning point in the industry. Intel is very proud of its early investment: from the network to the cloud to the equipment, as well as to support the communications service provider network transformation established by the partnership. From unmanned vehicles to wearable equipment to the wisdom of the city of everything, billions of intelligent devices connected to each other. To meet the various speeds, delays, energy and scale requirements of these interconnected devices, the entire ecosystem is required to complement each other. We can stand at the Intel booth in Barcelona and experience the prototype of the smart edge of the smart edge of the 5G future.
